The Australian Institute of Cyber Security (AICS) is seeking experienced cyber security professionals to join our team as Contract Sessional Trainers and Assessors. This is a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of cyber security practitioners across Australia.

About the Role
As an AICS Sessional Trainer and Assessor, you will deliver and assess our nationally recognised cyber security courses, including the Foundations of Cyber Security, the Cyber Security Accreditation Course, Cyber Skills for Lawyers, and Cyber Skills for Accountants. Working directly with the CEO, you will play a key role in maintaining the high standard of education that AICS is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver AICS course content to students via online platforms
- Assess student work, assignments, and practical assessments against AICS standards
- Provide constructive feedback to students on their progress
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of course materials and assessment tools
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Australian cyber security landscape, including relevant legislation, frameworks, and emerging threats
- Ensure all training and assessment activities comply with AICS quality standards
- Participate in moderation and validation activities as required
Essential Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in cyber security or information security
- Demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following areas: network security, application security, incident response, digital forensics, governance risk and compliance, cloud security, penetration testing, or security architecture
- Strong understanding of Australian cyber security frameworks, standards, and legislation (e.g. ASD Essential Eight, ISO 27001, Privacy Act 1988, Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including non-technical professionals
- Current Australian working rights
Desirable
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA, OSCP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent)
- Prior experience in training, education, or assessment
- Experience working with legal or accounting professionals in a cyber security context
- Postgraduate qualifications in cyber security, information technology, or a related field
- AICS membership (MAICS, GAICS, or FAICS)
